Thread: Flat fan kit...

    Flat fan kit...

Saw this on Pelican...no horse in this race.

Isn't there a member here that also makes these conversion kits.
Look pretty cool...seems spendy to me. High scores on the "bling scale"...if that matters. Think I would rather have high butterfly or slide valves.

There are several sources for this setup.
I know that a guy is making some here in France, and there is another one in Australia I think.

Indeed the price of the Pelican parts are expensive. I think you can get the same thing here for half that money. With all the parts repoped as original, even the rubber dampening bit on the fan.

Are there any genuine performance gains?

All you need to know is how much horsepower it takes to drive these. So yeah, there is a performance deficit.

Jim Torres had one to look at at the LA lit meet. The glass was amber. It looked very nice. It might take a little more hp to turn it but the even distribution of air might be nice in a hot dry climate.

I do not believe there is any performance deficit on the engines Porsche originally put these flat fans on. Besides I would just twist the knob if I had to but at 740 HP at only one bar of boost why bother?
