Thanks! I just went out and looked at it again with a flash light. You could tell where it was supposed to be, like and imprint or template stamped in the metal.

Yes that is what a 73 hood looks like too

The difference between 73 and 72 hoods has put me in a small predicament. 20 years ago, I had two light Ivory hoods. One was a 72 hood and one was a 73 Hood. I thought they were the same. So I mounted one on my 72 and sold the other one and apparently I put the 73 hood on the car and sold my 72 Hood. Now I'm going to have to try to find a rust-free dent free hood to my car. Preferably in light ivory, this could be tough.

I have two old hoods which I believed were original to my cars - Dec 72 build (73MY) has the one right opening for hood light as expected but this is also the same for the Nov 71 build (72MY) hood?

Obviously the hood from the 72MY RHD UK car could have been replaced at some point and the car was far from original however it was untouched in storage since 1989, the hood looked old and well used at that point and the finish/colour, inner sealant etc is correct?

    Just for reference.

    Cheers,

The first hood of mine 72 ölklappe has one light only.

But following the PET (Porsche Spare Part System) the number of luggage compartment lights is not quantified for either 72 nor 73 cause this lamp was optional

If the wiring of the light is original, then you might check the number on in

    -71 901 612 042 00 two light
    72- 911 612 044 21 one light

How do you turn the light on, for a 70 S Targa? Not sure if the bulb is burned out or just never been switched on.

Looks like I may be in the clear as a careful inspection of my wiring shows that there is no wiring present for a second luggage compartment light. My car was built in January of 72 so I'm not quite sure where the discrepancy comes from but my car was not built with a second light.

How exactly does the light turn on? There is no switch in the front trunk area that I can find so I have no idea how it turns on. It can't be on all the time. Is there a switch that the hinge hits?

My January 1972S, which I purchased in April 1979, did not have a trunk light! It must have been made on a Friday. The hood has punched hole on the passenger side for the light (which it now has) and on the drivers side there is an embossed but not punched area for the other light.

Gearby the light switch is located near the passenger side light. It is in the center of the hood hinge on the opposite side of the light. My car does not have original wiring for the light. I am looking for the original wire in very good condition.

My 1965 built 1966 model year 3 gauge Bahama yellow 912 has black cardboard with white plastic pins filling the opening on the drivers side (left) of the underside of the hood, not body color.
