    Recommendation

Looking for a good early 911 mechanic/shop in the Chicago area. Any recommendations out there?

    Street car or race car?

For a race car, I would contact mark Eskuche in that northern Chicago suburb called Milwaukee, Wisconsin. 2 hours north. Specifically, Mequon. He worked on my race cars, most recently, for the Rennsport Reunion.

If a street car, mark would probably do that for you also. He worked on 4 street car restorations for my father and he did an outstanding job. He specializes on the mechanicals.

If interested in contact info, reply or PM me.
    LOOKING FOR:
    ENGINE Nos: 4080191, 911669
    GEARBOX Nos: 9282004, 131410, 115639

Another good option in the Northern 'Burbs is Sol Snyderman at PerfectPower in Buffalo Grove. He comes highly recommended and does fantastic work. Here is his website: http://www.perfectpowerinc.com/index.html

I will second Mark for race cars and concur with Andrew on his abilities. Eurosport is gets a nod too as they did good work on our 76 track 911 at Autobahn. However.....

You absolutely CANNOT go wrong using Larry at Precision Porsche in Spring Grove. All of us MW crew use him for our early 911s, plus many others. His work goes way beyond mechanic - he is more scientist and perfectionist. Take your car to Larry and it will come back a transformed car since he probably found and fixed much more than you ID'd when you first brought it in. All done with your approval, of course. PM me if you want his contact info.

Another awesome and skilled guy is Jim at Bach Racecraft in Verona, WI. He is a super guy and immensely talented and knowledgeable Porsche technician. Knows 356's in depth also. He built my sister's 911 race car while working for Mark in Mequon years ago. A bit outside of the Chicago area if you are trying to stay close to home.

Look no further, call Larry. Be glad to pass along his phone number. Never met another mechanic like him. Scott's description is spot on.
