As I do not find the thread or the post and I know it had been discussed before,

is the one below the right one, or also a copy of the copy..

    Key fob

Haul -- Here is my NOS version of that style key fob. These are from an aftermarket company and not a Porsche supplied item. Hope this helps.

    Key fobs

Haul - Attached are the key fobs that came from the Porsche dealer back in the day. There are a couple of different versions of these as well. The example on the far right is NOS.

That top key fob looks like a very common aftermarket item from the era. I used to have one for the keys to my 1974 88" Series III Land Rover. Here's a listing from a 1971 MG Mitten Catalog--they cost $ 1.75 back then:

It's period correct, it's nice but it's not from Porsche. I have a similar, newer one for my VW:

The old 356 Key fobs can bring a few thousand dollars today. This is one of the best reproductions--there's a non-Porsche ring in the "curlicue" because Porsche actually showed one that way in a late 356 brochure:

The pouch style came in with the 911s--I knew somebody who got one with a late 356. This is [I think] an NOS pouch:

And, here's a similar pouch with a Porsche crest. It's very soft and has a leather lining like the 356 fobs. I don't know whether it's genuine Porsche or not:

    As to values...

The record for an original Porsche 356 key fob might have been $ 3,250. A nice, original one might still fetch $ 2k to $ 3k but you'd have to be darn sure it's not a quality reproduction--those are a little over $ 100. The cheap reproductions (which are easy to spot--they have no curlicue) are about $ 30.

I once saw an original 911-style pouch with an asking price near $ 1,000. I don't know if the demand supports that but they might go over $ 500 in good condition (or not). Orange Bar used to reproduce them for about $ 100. I think I paid Performance Products $ 12 around 1997.

But, I fear those English-made aftermarket key fobs like MG Mitten sold in the day are too common to be high value. A nice one might be worth $ 20 or so. Maybe I'm wrong but I'd be really surprised if one fetched over $ 50.

You can get a really nice leather key fob with a Porsche crest at your Porsche dealer for $ 28 and they're available in six different colors if you have trouble matching keys to your Porsches.
