Great project! Try to keep the headliner, it's only once original! Seats seems to belong to the car and much more worth then you think. Keep them as well. Looks like it has the original front oil cooler, good stuff. Still you need to strip the car completely top bare metal, the rust converter is nice but not a long term solution. Rust will keep it eating.

    Cheeers,

the idea is to leave it presentable slowly . Convert oxide to avoid further deterioration . When you have money (bulk ) we will proceed to do a sandblasted ( what you think about this? ) But for now we leave it presentable to mess with the engine. I consider that the rust converter is a hack for two years or am I wrong?
Regarding the porsche house : once you have been denied restoration ? we put ourselves in contact with the house for the restoration of the front door but came bringing a refusal to restoration
thanks for your advice : D
PS: After the rust converter that next layer recomendais give?

    Gracias !!!

    Hi,

The headliner is just the white cloth on the ceiling of the car, will be hard to remove without damaging because the sides where it is glued to the body could be very dry. Just leave it in place. Not easy to see the tank if it is a 85 or 100L, we need a picture of the top side. Epoxy paint over the rust converter or POR15 will be ok for the moment. Another good thing is the rear bumper bar, you will not find these often, correct Porsche delivered, not aftermarket.

    Cheers,

    Cees

If the tank is leaking, I don't think epoxy on a plastic tank will help.

There where several of these cars brought to the Canary Islands. The Canary Islands, where like a free port, plus one of the most favorites pplaces for the germans to retire.
Once retired, they brought there cars to the Islands, and with time many past away or went back home.

I know that he has tried to get more info on the car, like the other post says, but IMO its just a good S that was turned into a rally car the old fashino way, before, many recreations parts where available.

Also this restoration, i do agree with Oliver, its not for the DIY, but a Porsche specialist, problem is that if done corectly , its extremely expensive, this said, theres only 1 o 2 persons who can do this kind of work in th Island.

To send the car to mainland , is complicated, even though the Canarys, are part of Spain, but they have a special status, and theres certain burocracy to the whole import and export from there.

RS Targa is correct, i had this same problem with MW ST, he MW tried to repair the plastic, 100 L tank, i also tried to reapir it, and where still getting a gasoline odor, so eentually, the tank will be exchanged for a metal tank 100 L.

I hope he keeps post coming.

I respect his opinion and is what we think , it is an S prepared or so we think . We do not know if for a private , if prepared at home or who did it but it is what it is, I believe is a job well done although I have not seen the forum opinions concerning the work done by who made the preparation . It would be nice to find photos but have not seen anything and that is from 73 on the islands. We have gone to the specialist and as you say are 2.3 ... are not many.

Regarding the islands , I see you understand the economy that moves through here and was once a free spring loads. It would be a real problem take it off the island . Only we tried the front door but for now remains in the Canaries.

Regarding the tank, said , ours does not need any repair .

    regards
