I am not certain it is any better than similar products tho
I bought some after seeing it referenced on here (as well as Tri Flow). It seems to be a bit heavier than some and has a slight red tint. I like it.

But your probably right. I use a lot of Zep 45 and LPS products too. LPS has 1, 2, and 3. From light 1 to a heavy rust preventive 3 (similar to cosmoline).

it's not easy to buy just one can of Zep 45. Amazon.com wants to sell you 6 at at time.

Tri Flow is highly recommended and is under $10.00 a can.

Gibbs want to sell you a bunch of cans as well.

The good thing is that since my CIS system was removed about 40 years ago I don't have to worry about being original. Ok, my interior is original. Does that count?

Richard, where is the tartan luggage that goes under those straps? What have you done with the Skai-Dur? Now THAT is original. . .

Frank, absolutely correct without doubt. For some reason the SWB switch has been permanently in the ON position in my brain: I blame the upcoming Jay Peak Parade Concours.

I've sort of thought about this. I'm betting that a luggage set now would cost more than I paid for the car 30 years ago.

Porsche did offer a Joe Sieffert luggage set. No one has ever seen one in the wild though.

btw - "I have been told by a well informed enthusiast that Skai Dur is actually the commercial name for the vinyl material used in the vinyl luggage (and supposedly in the vinyl used for the 900 series seat upholstery). The language Skai Dur ended up in the published price list for accessories so they would know that luggage set was vinyl. The actual manufacturer of the luggage was Karl Seeger Lederwarenfabrik GmbH sometimes named as Karl Seeger Lederwaren GmbH). This name is nowhere on the luggage. By the way, Skai Dur can be translated by doing a Google translation on the internet. It means durable imitation leather or durable vinyl. Karl Seeger Lederwarenfabrik GmbH was sold to Montblanc in 1992."

I have no idea if any of that is true.

Gibbs sold me two cans. I buy the Zep45 from a local store. It may seem a bit expensive but the can is a bit larger. The thing I didn't like about the Gibbs was no straw.

I read a study from a university where they were testing all kinds of penetrating oils. The best-cheapest was an acetone and hydraulic oil mix. I've tried and it believe it or not, it works pretty well. You have to shake it up though because they won't go into solution.

BTW that luggage is too cool. Love the red interior!

Fan was orignally done in a Mg chromate type process (like Dow...not sure of the #. Dow#7?)

The hub was originally done in Yellow Zinc plating. Clear (silver) Zn plating with a finish wash of yellow Zinc Chromate.

I'd recommend sympathetically treating the fan, perhaps with Gibbs, and maybe some 2000+ grit (super fine) sandpaper to clean up the buildup/oxides.

A restored fan would look out of place on a used engine IMHO.
