    Engine #/tranny # partial match...error or coincidence?

I searched around here for early trans I.D. number info, couldn't quite find this:

In early production of '67S, did the trans number partially match the engine number?
Kardex indicates engine as ***245, and trans as ***245.
Error or coincidence, or do others have similar numbering? thanks.

I would think It would depend a lot on what is in the car. If the Kardex matches the car numbers then OK
There have been mistakes (haha) but no one would ever know for sure if it is

    Edit, found another one:

I have 4 kardex's handy from my current herd of 67S's, here's what I've got:

Oct 12 production: XXX500, XXX500 (so that one DOES match)
    Dec 30 production: XXX001, XXX005 (very close)
Jan 11 production: XXX128, XXX101 (not as close)
    July 7th production: XXX036, XXX010 (close)

The last one is a targa, the others are coupes

There's a long Kardex thread, last post I think was in Feb, and Longranger has posted a number of Kardex's including several 67S's, you may want to hunt through those pages.

    Interesting!

    Cheers,
    Eric
