How to build your own Rear Partition - Rally Bin 901.555.085.00

I wanted this info available, with a nod to Mr Goriup, as I occasionally get asked about my Rear Partition/Rally Bin 901.555.085.00. This was during my time as art director of ESSES. Advise downloading to read.

Thanks. I was going to do this at one time. Then I went and spent a few thousand dollars on a new interior. Shame on me.

Great article to post Bob, I was thinking this box would go great in conjunction with the rear seat delete box.

Thanks, Bob... whilst I have the original article in paper form, this acts as a good reminder...

Been meaning to do this for a long time. I was reading some old Esses and came across this article. The whole time I planned this project I always envisioned it covered in a piece vintage vinyl that came off my original '66 parcel shelf. But then I looked at what Bob did and now I'm going with Scotch-Brite'd satin black wood (I mean, Bob Tilton did it so it must be right). I found some 5mm bamboo under-layment plywood at HD with an almost identical finish as the pedal board wood. My install is going to be a little different as the aforementioned parcel shelf is in perfect condition and I don't want any holes in it. I have a luggage deposit and I'm just going to screw the bottom of the partition down to the top of that and use dummy screws on the back so it looks like it's attached to the bulkhead piece. Pictures coming...

Well that took way longer than expected. There's a lot of fiddly stuff, like figuring where all the snaps and fasteners and screws go...and sewing. All in all, I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. Satin wood finish was definitely the way to go. It's not fastened down yet as I want to paint the top of the back tomorrow.
