Porsche's new engine may be a "tour de force" but being stuck in the past I think I'll pass.

Not plastic, Composite. The same thing that a Glock 40 S&W handgun is made from. Extremely tough and I think I would take it and the weight loss to a standard system any day. My worry is their attempt to make a valving Water Pump? This pump will be opened and closed by a computer to warm your car faster. I think any moving parts inside a water pump other than the impeller is a recipe for disaster. All in All I am in the air-cooled camp I still have a hard time accepting a water cooled Porsche 911 series. The 928 was a heck of a driver though

The water pump was next on my hit list. Thanks for bringing that up. Did someone find a modern day Phil Irving? (Vincent engineer)

I was not a big fan of the original 991, thought it felt like a Buick (albeit a Buick GS). This second generation is a blast to drive. If you let it, it will still divorce you from the driving experience. It you make it work, it is a hoot. I have only driven an S that also had rear axle steering. I think the rear axle steering is what made the difference for me. The car is really agile. The 420 HP is a little over the top. Actually feels like a 60's-70's era muscle car with that much power.
Don't want one or need one. Just giving it it"s props.

Look up: 928 Weissach Axle. What's old is new again. Everybody has done rear steering. The most aggressive use was probably GM's Quadrasteer used in high line Suburbans/Sierra/Yukon. They would turn on a dime and backing into a parking place was a hoot. Turning radius was truly amazing.

Weissach Axle was passive, now they use electric motors to actively adjust the toe.
