Does someone can comment about the Sierra Madre repro wood wheel vs the original (steel or AL) ? How accurate are they ?

    Thanks

They aren't even close.... says the guy with an original aluminum one he'd like to sell. ;-)

But seriously, they are pretty bad.

I ordered the SM repro aluminum wheel (mostly because I was curious) and ended up returning it. It appeared to be well made but it wouldn't have fooled anyone around here for a second. It just looked like a repro to me. The wood in particular looked artificial. I'm sure it was real wood but if someone had told me it was some sort of composite I'd have believed it.

Thanks guys, I will keep my original steel wheel for my 65, even if an aluminum will be right, I cannot afford an AL wheel for now...

I raised the question because Sierra have a "buy one get one free" on steering wheels in their latest newsletter ; pretty cheap !

I'm not in any rush on getting rid of mine, so let me know when you're ready. I might even consider a partial trade for your steel one.
