I guess it's an opportunity for the ones that didn't get one from the factory. Feels a lot more like an opportunity for the vendor to make a quick return on his "investment".

Seems to be a popular theme amongst car youtubers lately. Purchase a limited edition super car, in a bespoke color, wrap it with protective film, drive it for 6 month to a year and resell it with a bit of profit.

It works as long as some are willing to pay a hefty premium above sale price.

I'm more impressed by someone who's not afraid of a stone chip or two, and who doesn't justify everything he purchases with the word "investment".... waiting for China to wake up.

It's not about the morality of it all, but more about the nostalgia of the time when people were truly enjoying themselves with the toys they were lucky to afford (Gunther Sachs, Karajan, etc...). It felt more genuine, and in many ways, more interesting lives....

    Agreed.
The 2016 Parade was a couple of hundred miles away, so we took our 66 out for an long week end run through
Vermont to catch the Concours. At the Porsche tent we came across a slightly stooped, octogenarian gazing at a 991R. I struck up a conversation about the car's appeal. He said he was fortunate to have been able to purchase, drive and enjoy a number of 911's over the years including a first year S. We both agreed the car was suited for the Interstate Highway or a track. Then he said, " it didn't matter as, most of these cars will never see the light of day from the garage".
