Weber 46IDA - Very Early Pair?

A little help here please. I have a pair of Weber 46IDA's C & C1 made in Italy with a simple '2' in what was later the date code stamping area. I have read that the earliest of the IDA's were simply numbered in sequence. Could these be the second set of 46IDA's made?
    Thanks - Hank

Hi Hank. Probably right about that. I would like to see photos of the side where the accelerator pump mounts, this would show some casting details I pay attention to regarding vintage of the bodies.

My opinion is that those would have been used on the first 906s which were actually 904 with 901.20 engine. I send history of Webers link from my site: http://www.performanceoriented.com/h...etors-on-911s/

Thanks Paul. I have been to your site, and it was helpful in my initial efforts to peg this pair. I hoped you might pipe in on this.

Apparently had some work done at some point with the PMO bits. Any conclusions?
I had purchased as an upgrade to Stubby, but now that she's gone to a good home, have these orphaned. Is there sufficient value added to have them rebuilt?
    Thanks - Hank

PMO manifolds, fuel rail, throttle linkage, mounting plates on the manifolds and air filters. I cannot see if air horns are OEM from photos but look correct. Those are early throttle bodies, probably second set of 46s as I mentioned. They have been re-worked, the throttle shaft coupling is the later style, cylindrical type. If there are oblong air screens on the top covers (lack of vent pipes indicates this) and if the throttle level arms are 30mm from shaft axis to ball stud vs. 40mm as used on production Webers then these both point to factory usage of the earliest vintage. Accelerator pump covers and possibly the lever arms installed in them are later than original version, yours have a reinforced perimeter flange where original top covers had a simple edge without reinforcement.

A second thought regarding these Webers: I believe they are actually originally for 911R application since the 906 application would have a different part number and would have the assembly of features configured for a mid-engine application, much like 914/6 Webers are different from those for 911 use.

If those are 911R Webers you just hit a home run. Congratulations.

Thanks EarlyS members for sharing your knowledge and for your input. Paul Abbott (PerfO) believes these to be an important matched pair in the first batch (production serial # 2) of 46 IDA's, quite likely factory installed on Carrera GTS (904-6) or 911R. I have sent them to Paul for complete restoration and have interest in finding an appropriate buyer for them. I would like to hear suggestions as to how to best announce their availability and to know who I may contact that can help find a buyer?
    Many thanks - Hank

You're looking at a very small market. You're also looking at a market that is willing to pay top dollar for the correct part. I would offer them privately to people who own a 911R or a Carrera GTS. It won't take much effort to find those people.

If you offer them to the general public you're going to get every bottom feeder in the world.

This is going to take some time but it will work.

Easy to discriminate against bottom feeders:

    Ebay with a high reserve.
