Seat advice - please pass the popcorn

As I continue to attack the pile of 'stuff' in my warehouse, I came across this pair of early seats. I purchased them about 10 years ago to replace seats in my '67 while the originals were off to Tony for recovering in Pepita and while Damon had the car.
Damon hasn't got the car yet, but soon. And Tony didn't get the original seats. Not yet.
So these sat in the box as shipped to me, unopened, full of popcorn, for about 10 years.
From the pix, please advise of vintage, I'm guessing '67 or '68.
The popcorn peels fairly easily from the smooth areas, kind of like peeling a thin film off a solid surface. But the basket weave surface is considerably tougher. I tried a cotton towel, and a little Wurth citrus cleaner, and it seemed to work reasonably well. But i want to be careful not to abrade the basket weave.
The seats are in great shape otherwise, no splits or rips, but the hinge chrome is a bit rusted.
So, a little help please on dating my seats, and advice on getting rid of the popcorn.
    Thank you EarlyS!
    Hank

    HANK

Those are 66 or 67 seats. Not 68 seats. The right seat is on the left and the left seat is on the right.

    Regards

Thank you Jim. Any suggestion on getting the popcorn removed, secret potions or the like?

    Ha!

That is exactly something I would do! Buy it, store it, and never open the box until I thought I needed what I assumed was in the box.

I wish I could say I don't feel quite as stupid but I think it makes us both stupid.

    Try Goof Off.

    And I don't mean Damon.

With all due respect (Frank) I would not use goof off. My experience has showed how aggressive it can be, depending on of course which Goof Off product one uses.

If it is just the waffled area of the seats that are the problem, try an auto car seat vinyl friendly cleaner first with a soft brush. Also a good auto upholstery store thats been around for a while may also be a good source on how to get 'em clean.

Try steam or just placing a damp towel over part of the seat for a short time.

Unfortunately, it's not food, it's the styrofoam packing material we call popcorn, also sometimes called packing peanuts, but I do think some warm water will loosen the bond.
