    Door seal rubber - NLA?

After a recent repaint I planned on replacing the door seals.

The part number for this is 911 531 095 40.

The first picture below is what the profile of the door seal looks like.

The second picture is what I got from Stoddards-looks like a figure 8:

This is not close, does not match the front window and Targa bar seals. A COMPLETELY unacceptable alternative.

I sent them back and ordered from Auto Atlanta. What I found out from the President of Auto Atlanta who was nice enough to to take the time to respond, was that Porsche has superseded this part with the new seal.

Does anyone know of a source for the old style seal? I plan on contacting Porsche to complain.

In the meantime, if you are doing work, be really careful with your old seals!

Stoddard does have the earlier profile. On a coupe (I know, yours is a targa) their seal doesn't have the thick moulded section at the joint of the wing vent and the door. You have to shim there to get rid of wind noise. What they sent you is the latest supercession profile.

Although it seems your part is available, Porsche Classic appears to have a special parts request form online. Sounds like depending on how many people request a particular unavailable part, they consider remanufacturing it.
