    Many Thanks for any input.
must have been at the same time as the front struts changed to adjustable

    Hey thanks for that.

A rough translation of that document is:

Circulation of the customer service department
    Betr adjustable foreachae
From the above-mentioned chassis numbers, the front axle mountings can be adjusted into the vehicle types 911 and 912 as standard.
In the case of repairs, the new front wheelhouse can be fitted at any time on one side.
Spare part number 901.501.695.20 (left for left and right-hand drive) 901.501.966.20 (right for left-hand drive and 901.501.967.20 (right for right-hand drive).
The wheel casings of the previous version are no longer available as spare parts.
We will now provide you with the new adjustment data for our vehicles.
The value for the empty weight after din (vehicle unladen but with full tank)....

If this is the intro of adjustable front shocks (along with relocation of washer bottle), it gives a VIN of 302695, which I guess is after the factory Fall shutdown, perhaps September October 1965?

    Hey moito

    I have found post #476 in http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...=washer+bottle

which provides solid evidence that my 301834 would have had a fender bottle.

The changeover differences between 65/66 model year, what VINs (and via Kardex's) what production dates correlate to when each change was introduced and what VIN actually marked the change are detailed across quite a few different threads on this (brilliant) forum.

Its a shame they can't all be linked together somehow and I'm sure there is a enough information around the forum to come up with a best guess. but here's a list for anyone else interested in this (admittedly narrow) area.

My favorite 'tip' is VIN 302038, discussed in the threads below, as the last '65 model year car still in known existence.

We did so for early 1965 changes and that turned out to be successful for many. I am not going to coordinate all the knowledge in a spreadsheet and happily leave that to one of the people owning such cars, but I will be following and adding to this thread for sure.

    Now, off the cuff:
    - change to adjustable struts
    - change washer bag from fender to front
    - change ID from front of smugglers box to font slam panel (simultaneous to changing the front slam panel right hand side)
    - abandon wedged door frame
    - abandon 4 screw horn grills
    - change heating pipe rear arch from running below the axle mount to above (recently found by Moito)
    - abandon bracket on the edge of the rear wheel arch to the floor (recently found by Moito, probably used for manufacturing purposes till then)
    - change steering wheel from alu to steel
    - change Solex carbs to Weber 40
    - abandon cam shaft centre lubes
    - abandon double Pierburg (was the electrical Bendix pump changed at the same moment?)
    - change windscreen wipers from right resting position to left resting position

    What about
    - front fender horns changes to plastic backsides
    - change to big ignition key washer
    - carpeting in luggage room and interior
    - change from open to flat door pockets
    - changed window crank mechanism from middle screws to far end corner screws
    - changed door cranks to the ones with plastic middle piece
    - leather shift mob change to rubber
    - adding emergency lights
    - change high rim back seats to low back seats
    - change of welded in bucket for the engine lid release knob into door column integrated indent
    - change from 4.5 to standard 5.5 inch wheels
    - introduction egg shaped headrests replacing the type 356

Pls confirm or deny and let us know yr chassis numbers, post pics and have fun. Lets breed our global half-baked knowledge into something useful
I know a few of these from Porsche documentation:

    Carpet:

A 1966 model year brochure says 912s have bouclé (squareweave) carpet (velour in 911)
    A 1968 model year brochure says 911Ts & 912s have perlon carpet (velour in 911L & 911S)

Replace 356-style headrests Brett Johnson's book says mid-1968

change from 4.5 to standard 5.5 inch wheels Pretty sure this was 1968. 5.5 x 15 Fuchs are one-year-only 1968.

Do you have any photos of the 'wedged door frame' you refer to in your list, please?
