    Fire Extinguisher Mount?

I have a rennline mount that moves with the seat in my 993.

What are people liking to mount their extinguishers in the early cars? I've gone to effort and trouble to restore the car - -n ounce of prevention can't hurt...and you can't use an extinguisher if it's not accessible.

    Fire Extinguisher mount

Made this mount from .090 aluminum and it was pop Riveted to the passengers seat in the 1965.

Moved with the seat. Out of the way. Did not hinder passengers foot space or entry/egress.
Once it is installed the bracket mount is not seen. This is how it fits in a newer 911.

(Was made a few years prior to the BK mounts.)

The real danger here is that the extinguisher comes loose in an accident. A friend of mine was killed when the extinguisher broke loose and hit him in the head.

You don't want your extinguisher to become a deadly missile in an accident.

    This is really scary.

I'm a cheapskate, I mounted mine on a piece of aluminum angle and noted it to the height adjustment bolts at the front of my seat. Moves with the seat too.
I mounted it to the drivers seat, as I don't want my wife complaining of snagging something.

thanks for the responses. I'm comprehensively restoring my car back to factory specs, and wanted to protect my investment. My hope is to find something close to what might have been available in period, but also make the extinguisher available should the worst start to happen.

If you're going to put a fire extinguisher in your car you should also go to a local fire fighting school and learn how to use the extinguisher. That's sort of important.

We have this training at work. Also have the right extinguisher for the type of fire...

    72targa - Very good point.

Porsche engines present a unique situation. If you have a magnesium case that Home Depot extinguisher is useless.
