Q on sports bumper re: bumper guards

I have a spare metal sports bumper. Never got around to fitting it (bought it for another car at the time), but I will have to get it repainted. Wondering if I should fill in the bumper guard holes...

I have the guards currently on my regular bumper... Not sure I love the look of them in front, on either bumper to be honest... Did 911s with sport bumpers come with bumper guards in 72 from the factory ? You rarely see the sport front bumper with guards on the street nowadays, maybe because the repro steel and fiberglass sports bumper has no holes ?
