    Recaro sport seat question

    Hi all,

Have a '69 911S targa with two factory options:

    - 9236 R.SITZ L
    - 9237 R.SITZ R

    Innenausstattung:

    - 9832 CORD B C

The previous owner was sure these seats have been in the car since at least 1984, probably since 1969. But the hinges look very odd/ non original to me. Can anyone give some thoughts on what has been altered and how I can return these to original specs?
Someone told me that the passenger seat got some new incorrect corduroy fabric.

    Any help is appreciated!!

It means those are definitely aftermarket recliners

Ok, but the tilt frames look original to me. Are original recliners anywhere to found?

Seems that I at least need correct recaro recliners. Anyone knows if there are good reproductions out there? Or have one for sale?
    Could this be correct? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-911-...-/152342914332

Recliners are arguably the most difficult part to find for sport seats. Someone is manufacturing a reproduction as the Mr. Fiat seats have them.
The ebay listing you linked is for a 72/73 standard seat (no curve and no encased/ single locking mech.)

If you find an aftermarket recliner let us know.

So, are the home-made recliners on both sides of the seat? The factory only had a recliner mechanism on one side of the seat, and then a pivot point on the other. Non Porsche sport seats (I believe made for BMW etc) have been seen with the recliner on both sides, but these aren't that common, and I believe they were pretty early manufacture. I just wonder if the person decided that these seats needed to be a bit sturdier and mounted those recliners on both sides.

I tried to buy recliners from a Deser distributor a few years ago, but wasn't successful. Perhaps you'll have more luck.

BTW, you have 72/73 vinyl headrests, the correct ones for 69 would be the "D" shaped flat bottom version.

Hi Soterik, they seem to be on both sides indeed. One of the knobs was damaged and had a 99 sign in it. The rest of the seats and frames look authentic, so I assume that someone put some '99 weird stuff on the seats. Really don't know why..
Will look out for D shaped head rests as well.
