My Uncle owned one of these 1970 original narrow body lightweights that went back to Werks for the full ST treatment. ST flares, 2.5L etc... Car was unreal fast! He brought it over to the States in 1978. No one in the US knew what it was back then but we did.

Haha, nothing gets by you guys! Didn't survive a crash at Sears Point unfortunately. We talk about it every day almost. We could have fixed it no problem but back then it was a different story. You just got another body and moved on. He was stationed in Germany in the early 70's and that's where he bought it. Used to take it to PCA events at the factory. Yes, there was a PCA Germany Region back then. He raced Nürburgring and other tracks in Germany while stationed there in the Army. Notice, you had to pop the hood to put gas in. That's why I build them that way. It had no heat tubes running through the rockers. That was all deleted from the factory. Lots of cool lightweight details.
72S, 72T now ST
It was updated for the street by the guy in Germany he bought it from after he was done racing it that's why you see the Gary Player pin stripe paint work and rear seats added etc. but it was 100% an original lightweight. Confirmed by Jurgen Barth back in the day. Sad it's gone.

Sad, but it's long gone.
