    Klaxon vs Mixo Stritone horns

Somewhere around Dec '72 Porsche replaced the red banjo horns with red trumpets. The Carrera RS Book (2nd Ed) specifically mentions red Klaxon dual tone horns. Like in the picture below. However most vintage (and the current OEM) horns for sale these days seem to have Mixo in place of Klaxon lettering and are otherwise identical. Both say Stritone at the bottom. So question for the illuminati. Which is correct, and if both, for what era or what car?

I parted out a '73 911T targa back in 1993. The car was relatively rough and I'm fairly confident the horns were original. I dont know the manufacturing date of the car but it was an MFI car with unreinforced doors. So it had to be an early red trumpet car. I traded those horns for banjos a year ago but have contacted the guy and asked him to check if they were klaxon or mixo. I should hear back from him soon and will post the results here.

My 73E built in May 73 has Stritone. I'm fairly confident they are original.

The oracle in Bolton says Klaxon was common on RS cars and Mixo on the rest.

Since the RS and the other models were built at the same time on the same assembly line, I highly doubt that anybody worried about putting a different brand of horns on different models. It depended more on what was in stock whenever the changeover came.

Dec '72 or Jan '73. Some Klaxon horns during that time too, but Mixo continuously by the spring and for many years thereafter.
