For reference the PET information similar to Rick mentioned previously for rear. Don't remember seeing this 4.2mm RS only distinction in the paper parts books in any of the several different 72/3 editions on my shelf, unless I missed it?

Measurement of first series M472 RS door window glass is shown below:

Small sample size on this thread admittedly but fact of PET calling out 4.2mm RS part for Carrera 2,7 when taken together with earlier measurement postings here seems to confirm Andrea's first post question about RS having thinner Sekurit door glass fitted than the contemporary T/E/S.

The early M472 RS cars (not just those left in base RSH or converted to M471 configuration) kept their thin fragile Glaverbel front windshield -- but not the fixed Glaverbel rear quarter Windows.

Anyone have one of those thin genuine original Glaverbel front screens that's not currently fitted to a car that they could easily measure ?

What is the normal thickness of an original 72/3 windscreen vs those front windshield only-RS? Unlike other Carrera RS specific glass PET does not mention different version or thickness for those Glaverbel front windscreens nor do I recall it being listed separately I the original paper spare parts binders:

I have an original glaverbel front windshield in my series I RS touring, but as I understand there may be only one other that has survived. They were so fragile that they all broke. Unlike what an earlier poster stated, the lightweight windshields were for all RS's not just the lightweight (which were only different bumpers and interior packages)

Been enjoying this thread. I had a lot of questions in regards to M472 glass and this thread has answered them!

The rear glass is all that remains for #0339. Measured out at 4.17mm, D89 Sekurit stamp

Here are pictures from my 1973 2.8 M491 RSR.

My car was restored back to original conditions in 1990 by Raymond Touroul. With an original Option M491, I am not sure if the front window was originally Sekurit - D27 or not? Does anyone know if M491 had Glaverbel on the front window originally, or was it too thin for the front window?

Also, does this look right with the M491 option for Glaverbel on the rear side window and Sekurit M89 for the Rear Window?

It looks as if the side windows are the correct thin Glaverbel, but I do not know much about the stamps on the front and rear glass.

Here are some photos I dug up of a M472 car I documented a while back, first series car. All D98, DOT27, M89. Windshield was not original but the rear glass was...

Any Sekurit experts out there that can tell which code is for which? For example, which is a code for tinting? Have we concluded that the thin glass is not tinted?

As I am preparing to source the glass for an M472 restoration, would a German delivery RS have tinted glass or no? The only original piece of glass is the rear glass, stamped D89, DOT27, M890. I found a few threads on here regarding Sigla glass and the codes but did not find much discussion on Sekurit stamps and their meaning.

I did not get a chance to measure the thickness on the glass when I took photos of the car.

I don't believe there was an "E" standard back in 1973.

    What’s the difference between D51 and D89?

That is tinted glass. Securit F is tinted, Securit 1 or just plain Securit is clear.
