    FS: 500008 1967 Pre-Production 911 Targa

Fairly significant in the Targasphere; third oldest known to exist (behind 001 and 006). Unusual features that are peculiar to the 10 pre-production 911 Targas. Matching numbers, originally Irish Green/Black. Now has cheap black re-spray. Runs and drives but needs complete restoration. This is not a "survivor" car. I can't imagine anyone trying to drive as is unless you're weird. It's just an old car with no rust that was actually used as a car in the state of Kalifornia.

I've decided to cut it loose; too many projects.

    Asking $145k

Interested parties please PM and I'll be happy to send photos.

    Thanks.

Below is a link to photos.

Not to be a misogynist but she's a rough old girl. The value is in the VIN and quirky pre-production features including:

    Polished Targa bar
Handmade brass Targa bar base mouldings
    No rear window tensioning mechanism

Apparently Porsche stopped Targa production after 500010 for a short time, changed some of these quirks, and started up again.
Car is in fantastic company as Dr. Porsche owned 010 which Orval_F, a member in this community sold for a princely sum a couple of years ago. Tomlu, another member here owns 006 and is currently doing a magnificent restoration on it.

Some tire kickers but no doe-re-mi yet.

Buying this car would be a great way to celebrate the 50 year anniversary of the Targa.

Were these Real Soft window Targas? Im ignorant as to when soft windows were produced. This one looks like it is set up that way. Is it really a soft window?

Yes. It's really a soft window.

    Sad to see it go.
