I would bring a vintage car to Afghanistan before I would bring it to Moscow. Impossible to figure out who the good guys are if it gets lifted.

If it's that dangerous, a regional is probably out of the question.

Since the fall of the Soviet Union and fallout from that, much of the media coverage today is negative. Orson Welles once claimed that the Russians in his experience were a 'supreme artistic people'. Hollywood employed many that were gifted.

Natalie Wood (Zakharenko), Peter Ustinov in Leningrad.

    Anyone like Piroshki ?

I rented this place a few times when I was living in Wroclaw (Poland). Cost is approx USD 300 for the day. Its an old airstrip so the surface isn't super smooth, but it was a lot of fun. I had an FSO Polonez that I used for a rally. In addition to normal cars (including my early 911) everyone raced the Polonez in 'star in a reasonably priced car' format. All was well until one of the wheels fell off.

No one is saying that Russians are not bright and good people. It is a wonderful place to visit, the people are spectacular (and very bright) but everyone knows to hang on to their wallet in Rome (also a wonderful place) and don't wear flashy jewelry or valuables including cars) in Russia. Its because Russians are so bright that they have a very organized under belly. If they wanted all 100 Porsches that came in for a meet, they would find a way to take them and you would never even see a tire mark in the dirt. Vaporized. So with that said, who knows Putin? He for sure could protect us. Unless maybe he says he will but he really is the guy that wants the cars? As said before, you don't know who the good guys are...

A couple years back, I did an oldtimer rally in Russia with my super original 1970 BMW 02ti. I entered on wheels from Finland and a week later left through Latvia.
I had a great time, saw many spectacular oldtimers and made many friends that I later meet at various european oldtimer events.
It was a pleasant and safe adventure. Only crossing the border is a pain in the ass (long queue and filling out many useless forms mainly in cyrilic).

Summarizing, I would do it again anytime. Pictures of my car on Red Square - priceless!
