here is my route home. I took some advice from folks, but I'd already booked some of my rooms on the way back so Ii couldnt do everything. Im not going through yosemite proper as I've already driven that route so I'm opting for the northern route through the mountains out of california on 108. We are staying in Mammoth Lake CA before we continue on to Escalante Utah. I'm taking highway 6 in Nevada. I know there are better "routes" but I really do want to experience a vacuum of humanity. It seems like that might be one of the best places you can do it in a car...
From there we are going to continue on to Crested Butte Colorado, and then swing up west of Denver into Wyoming, and then it is the long haul through the boring shit home...

Here is the map if anyone is interestedi in having a look. I'm most looking forward to hwy 6, and hogback ridge on hwy 12 in Utah. There are a lot of roads less traveled sprinkled in that we plan to explore. I'll be taking lots of photos, and we'll be filming...

Went to Canepa last year (posted some pics here). It was a great quick stop. Race cars including my favorite Rothman's 962, three or four 959's (my dream car when I was 12) a bunch of restored cars in the showroom and the catwalk over the shop. Fun stop. If you get overloaded with cars, a walk out to Point Lobos will yield some jaw dropping views if the fog is light. Even with some fog it's amazing.

I'd also like to suggest breakfast at Paris Bakery in Monterey. It's a tasty--if not extraordinarily healty--way to start the day. It's also near Bank of America if you need to visit the Versateller ATM.
