Thread: 1967 Targa List

    1967 Targa List

I'm retired and also OCD. While my wife says I don't seem to have enough time for the things she want's done, I have a computer and entirely toooooo much free time on my hands. I have started to collect at least one picture of each of the ‘67 911 Targas (S and N) still in existence or confirmed scrapped. Have about 70 so far with pics or about 130 total (pic and no pic) either confirmed or with leads (thank you ESR member list). Hoping to have some of the archivists here reach out and offer to combine their collection with mine. Also saw some reference on Pelican that somebody is already doing this. Anybody know who that might be? Will try to write to DDK to see if there is any existing list of Europeans. Perhaps the moderator would establish a sticky for us to dump this information into. I am not interested and have not collected any engine numbers or other related data lest I be accused of fomenting forgery! Any opinions, pro or con, and anyone want to help? Why do this? I don't know. Maybe the Devil is making me do it. Decided to start posting what I have gathered. If something should be an S and I did not mark it please PM me so I can correct. Still looking for pictures for the VINs I have but missing appropriate picture. This is somewhat laborious so please be patient. I am doing it piecemeal. See also '67 Targa List Part 2 http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...a-List-Part-2/ and '67 Targa List Part 3 http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...ga-List-Part-3

Started to add production dates. If anybody can supply additional for cars listed please PM me. Also added the COA for the factory hard window '67 targa at 500673. Would also welcome any additions to the list by sending me a PM with a picture, VIN and production date. Do not send any other info such as ownership, motor number, tranny number, location. Would also welcome VIN of any know scrapped 67 targas. Thank you

Instead of starting separate registries for specific models, it would have been much better if the ESR would allow their members to contribute improving THE REGISTRY. I have suggested that in the past, but didn´t get a response.

Lots of errors in the rooster that would be possible to correct, but not for one man alone like today. What is recorded on each chassis is totally random. With a little quality control, the data would have been much more valuable.

You and a couple other guys could take care of the ´67 Targas. Max is doing a great job on the 2,4S coupe´s and could take care of those, but nobody is covering the 2,4S Targas. And so on.

I have 2,2S and and a 67S, but for some reason my OCD only kicks in when it comes to the ´67 coupe´s, (S and N). Would love to help out if there is a will.

I have identified several and have a picture and VIN posted hereinafter:.

With regard to the following I think some ESR members can provide a picture if they are willing:
    500053S,500068S,500075S,500111S,500120S,500144S,50 0167,500172S,,500224S,500234S,500240S, 500224S,500376S,500386S,500390S,500442S,500448S,50 0449S,500452S,500456S,500479S,500498S,500503S,5005 14S,500527S,500538S,500551S,500555S,500565S, 500600S,500620S,500621S,500634S,500644S,500650S,50 0669S

500043 I believe was sold by John Audette at some time. I wonder if he could send me a picture if he still has one. It appears to have been Crystal Blue.

On the Pelican I located two more. One was owned and sold by PTC930. I wrote and asked for pic and VIN but no response. Perhaps if somebody knows who that is they can induce him to send me the info. Also Softarga911S on the Pelican has one. Picture appears but no VIN. Wrote to him with no response. Perhaps somebody who knows that identity can reach out. Please contact me by PM for my email address. Like to keep that private as much as I can.

I am open to suggestions as to how to store this info so everybody who is interested can get to it. Toying with the idea of Facebook. New medium for me but I am learning. Would also be able to post articles concerning ‘67S Targa restoration, maintenance and events. I am open to suggestions.

LET ME EMPHASIZE I AM NOT TRYING TO COLLECT AN EXHAUSTIVE DATA BASE. I THINK OTHERS ARE ALREADY DOING THAT. I DO NOT WANT OWNER NAMES, LOCATIONS, ENGINE NUMBERS OR TRANNY NUMBERS. WOULD JUST LIKE TO KNOW HOW MANY EXIST.

I have some pictures which I will add to my next post. Perhaps the group can supply the VINs. I’ll put those up in my next post.

    I started this thread...

Have you joined the Registry? That way you can receive the annual list of members and their cars (& VINs)...

Sent you a PM. Very nice thread but am under the impression that the board doesn't want me to do that. Am I incorrect?

Up until 2015 I owned 500010, but sold it. You can see pictures under "Show my Ride" thread. It was Ferry Porsche's personal car at one time.
