    Just bought 1969 911S #119300864

Found this car 100 miles from my house. Bought it from the second owner who purchased in California in 1975. Matching engine with its original MFI system. Matching transaxle and all five matching correct date deep sixes. Originally silver, now dark silver. Also has factory fender chrome trim.

Some assembly required since it was taken apart about 7-8 years ago after sitting for a decade or two. Needs a full restoration, but really a pretty solid car with some rust in the usual places. It also has two paint codes stacked on top of each other on the door plate: 76-81-9101-H & 77-94-0503. I've heard of other 1969 911E, 911S, 911T and 912's with these same double numbers on the plate - all silver cars. My hunch is that the top code is for the silver and the second code is for the clear coat. I've enclosed a picture of the plate, the Kardex and the COA.

I will post pictures in the next few days.

Congratulations...sounds like a great find but indeed a project depending on how far you want to take it. I know I speak for everyone on the forum who is anxious for the photos!

You are correct about the paint codes. My silver 69S (119300618) has the identical code numbers on the plate. My car came with extra paint when I bought it new. The can of silver has a code that ends in 9101H and the can of clear coat ends in 0503. There are lead numbers on the cans, 67-81 for silver and 77-94, on the clear coat. I don't know what those numbers signify?Name: IMG_2193.jpg

Thanks for the confirmation. That was the only explanation that made sense to me, but it is great to see proof. Especially the 1969 date stamp on the one can.

I have no idea what the other numbers mean either. Maybe someone on this forum can decode them? Is the paint still liquid or has it hardened in almost 50 years?

I think you've got it. All the numbers accounted for. The H being for the paint manufacturer.

    Nice detective work.

Ron, thank you very much for the photo of the paint cans. More photos of the labels on the cans would be useful documentation.
