    Wife's father's 1950's car

My wife's father was a photographer and art director who worked with Alexey Brodovitch and for Harpers Bazaar in the '40's and 50's. (And during the war he worked for the OSS undercover in North Africa and Europe as a magazine photographer.) My wife's mother was a staff photographer for Vogue with Alex Liberman at the same time. None of these names will mean anything to anyone unless they do. At any rate they lived large, and my wife is going through their old work for a show at the Howard Greenberg Gallery next month and found this. Apparently they had a Porsche at one point.

Great picture! It looks like it has teardrop taillights which means its a 57 or 58 A coupe. it's hard to tell from the photo, but if the front overrider bar is taller than the rear overrider's, it's a 59. According to the hubcaps, its a Normal (60 horsepower) and appears to have an Abarth peashooter exhaust. Very cool find!

Leslie Gill died at the beginning of 1958, a few months after my wife was born.
