why not go for 5.5 x 15 painted steelies with some 185/70/15 vredestein sprint classics. Looks clean and simple. Since pretty much EVERYONE has Fuchs.

But it handles nicer on a more appropriate tyre
Because it is the wrong kind of tyre for the car. It is a totally different shape and structure. why not just fit the right thing and make it handle nicely http://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/page...cinturato-cn36
Have i posted this picture on here
Depends what your definition of "handles nicely" is. 3 of my 4 old Porsches are on the "wrong wheel and tyre" combos and handle superbly, IMHO. My 62 Super 90 Cab on it's original wheels and 165 X 15 Michelin ZX tyres feels like it is on ice.

Anyone have any sets of 4.5 or 5" Fuchs? I may have an extra nicely done set of deep 6" available.
As i mentioned earlier in this thread i will be using a set 5.5" wheels. Just purchased a set of 185/70WR15 CN36 N4s.
Heard good things about CN36s hence my choice
Hi I've a set of 5.5 late 67 early 68 here in the uk. Im looking for a set of 4.5. You interested in a swap or so.
+1
Put Vred 185/70R15s on my old Porsche, and then gave them away. Vintage looks and nicer steering response, but noticeably less grip and less fun overall. Felt like ice, as described above. YMMV, but so may others'.
Currently running 185/70 Avons, and these too may be going away. Not in any hurry, but thinking 195/65 P6000s may be what I want. Dearly wish A-008Rs could be made available in 195/65 or even 205/60. I can still remember how fun the car was with them…
I like the tire choices 16's offer. 195/55/16's mounted on 6X16's on my 67.
