Well it's certainly worth something. Pictures and more of a story would be helpful. Thanks for joining the discussion.

Hm/weeeeeeeeeeeeell --- why do you say that?

The number you've shown is only one of several that appear on a 911. Here are some pics + notes . . .

    1) Engine number --- the one in the pic that you've already provided

Vehicle identification number --- stamped in several places . . .
    2) . . . into an alu tag riveted to the pass-side of the front 'slam' panel --- the one that the front hood latches to
    3) . . . into a raised pad located on the sheet metal of the pass-side of the front trunk floor, between the gas tank and the inner fender
    4) (sometimes --- if the car's been registered in CA) . . . onto an improvised decal/tag/whatever located an 'externally visible location' . . . here, on the drivers' side A-pillar

    5) Transmission number --- into a raised cast pad located on the bottom of the trans case

    6) Production number (aka the 'secret number') --- stamped into the dash panel's sheet metal, up behind the ash tray/pass-side lower dash pad

    Here's a gallery . . .

The best way that I know of to verify the specific details of any 911 would be to get what's colloquially known here as the Kardex --- here's a thread . . .
    http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...-of-the-Kardex

It'll provide the 'numbers' that you're interested in --- along w/ lots of other stuff . . .
    http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...st-Your-Kardex!!!

(IMO --- CoAs are nice-enough --- but you really REALLY want to get the Kardex)

    Anyway --- HtH . . . and welcome aboard
