Thread: Butterfly Horn Button

The Wurth isn't quite right for the batwing. It's OK, but not a perfect match. In our tests, the original batwing finish was smoother/glossier than we could achieve with Wurth from a rattle can.

It's really not right for Fuchs. Not even that close, really. Rustoleum 7777 is a much better match for Fuchs. There's also a better match for the dash than Wurth trim black that the guys at CPR turned us on to. Don't recall off the top of my head but could check if anyone is interested.

For the spokes? I actually do like the Wurth on the spokes. I've got a photo of a wheel we did recently and used Wurth for the spokes. Let me see if I can find it.

Did your folks do the leather or did you send it out. If you sent it out, who was the craft person who did such a nice job? Did you try Carbone yet?

I've been happy with both Dallas Steering Wheel and Autobahn Interiors. Haven't used Carbone for one and probably wouldn't. Huge fan of their stickers, and have ordered from them at least half a dozen times, but with their relatively poor communication I wouldn't feel confortable shipping them a valuable steering wheel.

No one has photos of the early aftermarket horn pads?

    Come on.

BTW: For paint reference here's an NOS wheel. Complete with horn pad that's never been unwrapped.

Now you're just showing off. Or trying to cause me pain. Maybe both?

Your torment is self imposed; it's just a steering wheel. lol

I've never unwrapped the horn pad because I don't have a reason to look at it. (Idle curiosity is overrated.)
Had 2 wheels and sold one to Brian Fryar years ago. Decided to keep this setup for a rainy day.

    So...

What's the big secret about early aftermarket horn pads? No one can post a pic? Safe to assume they're piss poor quality?
