    Snorkel Dismantle

Tried searching the forum with no luck. I want to refinish the metal part of the snorkel attachment, is it just a matter of heating up the plastic studs and pushing them out and reverse for install?

Mask off the plastic part and bead blast the metal part...I do it all the time with complicated disassemblies. Plain old green 3M masking tape holds up to beads.

Actually on these I have bead or walnut blasted the plastic at a low pressure...it will remove the deep ground in grunge. Some MeGuire's vinyl/plastic treatment and it will look brand new.

I'd still mask the plastic after the low pressure run and go back to full, 90-100 PSI for the metal.

With that much corrosion around the rim, I would want to separate just to be able to renew between the two pieces.

You could cut off the plastic nibs, refurbish pieces and reassemble with hard (not pop) rivets. A dab of flat black on the rivets and it would look original.
