    Help -- Windshield Install

Is there someone out there that would be willing to talk to the guys at the bodyshop doing my '73 targa restoration about the windshield install?
They have spent several hours redoing it and there are still gaps at both upper corners. Sure to leak in the first good rain.

    Thanks,
    Greg

Get the car to an experienced glass shop. You wouldn't go to a podiatrist for brain surgery, would you?

    Ciao

Make sure you have a real Porsche seal .. older the better.. aftermarket ones are a awful fit..

In addition to the seal mentioned some aftermarket glass doesn't fit tight. Also the trim has to be fit correctly. Post pictures of the problem area. If they're having problems with the Front, wait till they attempt the rear.

Honestly, I wasn't trying to be a smartass. There are tricks of the trade that only experienced installers know. I'm sure there is someone near Wichita that has what it takes to properly install a 911 Windshield. Too bad you aren't working on a Bonanza or a Cessna................

    Regards

    Order a 911 541 225 03 weatherstrip from Porsche.

Problem will most likely be solved.

I've used what is probably the same glass from Stoddard and it fits good. I only use genuine Porsche seals, but I can't emphasize enough that the trim has to first be made to exactly fit the windshield opening. All trim is always deformed from shipping handling. It must be exact in the corners. A shaped block of wood can be used to help shape the trim in the corners after installation. A picture would really help.

I do appreciate everyone's advice. I'm leaving for an overdue vacation and will re attack the issue when I return. Ed, how are your guys on windshields, you're probably the closest expert to Wichita.
