My new 1972 T is on its way....

    Hi Everyone,

So long story, but I finally managed to purchase a Silver 1972 911T matching numbers with 54,000 original miles.

Its on its way from Houston to Connecticut as I write this. It started life in Florida then moved to Canada, then back to Florida to California, Houston and now Connecticut. It comes with a full set of maintenance records which support the mileage. The car was first purchased by a Dr in Florida on April 18, 1972 from Chapp Porsche in St Petersburg. The car came with the Appearance package, Alloy wheels and a few other options.

The car made its way to Canada in 1990 at about 28,000 miles when Jack Boxstrom purchased the car. He repaired some rust in 1995 (door sills, rear passenger floor, rear parcel shelf) and then repainted the car its original silver. He also did some maintenance work on the motor before it was sold in 2000 at 43,000 miles.

I managed to speak to the buyer who purchased the car in 2000. Great guy. First, he confirmed the mileage was correct. He owned the car from 2000 to 2015 and only put about 10,000 miles on it during that time. Over time the car got some, but not a lot of use. It also sat for periods as well. In 2008 he moved to Florida. Subsequent to that he decided to do a full restoration and stripped the car all the way down - and was about to pull the motor - when he decided to sell it. The car moved on to California where the car was fully repainted. After a short trip through Houston the car is now on its way to me.

My intent is to slowly restore the car over time – and drive it.

Wow. Beautiful car. Pretty neat that you got the original invoice to the car . It's only 132 cars after mine . That's a lot of replaced sheet metal for a car with only 28,000 miles. It must have been parked outside early in its life?

Thanks everyone. So the seller was good enough to put it on the 3rd floor of an enclosed garage before the storm hit. So that worked out. From what I understand there was a leak in the rear window that caused the rust of the shelf, rear floor etc. Not overly large areas, but enough that they needed repairs. My intent is to keep the inside as is. Then slowly start going over every mechanical and restoring/cleaning/etc.
I have a 993 and a 914, so this is very different to drive - albeit was a short drive from the carriers trailer in the dark to my garage! I hope to get her out on a good run this weekend as we dont have many nice ones left before the poor weather arrives.
