My Aunt's home is gone. Burned to the foundation. Was our family Thanksgiving meeting place for decades. Unreal.

I hope to see racing at Sears Point again very soon...
For now, "The raceway is opening its 50-acre campground Tuesday afternoon to evacuees from the several wildfires currently burning in the North Bay."...

And now there is a weather service red flag warning of increased winds through out the area. The potential for further expansion of fires is huge.
This is the peak of the wine harvest and processing time.
According to local news there were 17 separate fires. Fire arson investigation can't begin because of the over-stretched personnel resources.
Although wine country is notable, there are many other areas and communities such as Santa Rosa that have been burned.
As a local news anchor said "I hate to say this, but it looks like it is going to get worse, maybe a lot worse in the next 24 to 48 hours".
We live south of SF. For several days the skies have had a yellow haze with the smell of smoke in the air.

I just got some really good news. One of my good friends had to abandon his beautiful home/vineyard in rural Napa. He was sure that he would never see his place again as the fire was advancing on his property. It turns out that the Wooden Valley Volunteer Fire dept decided to defend his property and were successful in turning back the flames. He and his wife are a pair of the lucky ones. Thousands of others weren't so lucky.

Jim
Thanks Jim.
