    Strange vin number?

    sorry for posting this as it is about a 912...

    have you ever seen this kind of vin number?

    Yes 912 VINS have 6 digits for 65/66/67
    #35XXXX for Porsche built cars
    #45XXXX for Karmann built cars

    This is likely a very early Karmann 912 with potentially a painted dash (depending on your last 3 digits)

    Yes, the VIN plate image reveals an obvious masking of the last 3 digits of the VIN. I would assume that it was someone's attempt to mask the chassis number, engine ID and transmission numbers. Maybe from that point forward it has taken on a life of its own as a 3-digit VIN..

    The COA is masked too. Just the seller's way of holding back cards.
