In regards to Sportmatic, Ahrens must be confusing the two cars as this is a 5 speed. Wolfgang
had told me earlier that Ahrens had mistaken the two cars earlier. So the hunt continues for a picture of this car.

Either way the Porsche plates information is new to me, thanks for sharing!

Wolf , I will have those pictures you requested this afternoon.
Mr Lorz was the first, who used 119300950, then his daughter. Then it was purchased by Mr. Ahrens. And I have spoken with him personally.

The term "test car" is for sure a linguistic inaccuracy, since Mr. Ahrens told me some days ago that these so called "test cars" were offered to some people, e.g race drivers or celebrities, mostly with low mileage and to reduced prices. For the race drivers this was a possibility to earn some extra money and therefore was welcome.

As to the Sportomatic I assume in fact now that we could talk about two different cars, the one, which we can realize as photographed and the one -119300950 - which he bought, for a "special" price in 1970 and which he resold quickly afterwards.

Next Time You Speak with Mr Ahrens . . .

    . . . ask him . . .

    . . . 'ever been to Henderson, North Carolina --- recently, like . . . 2014?' . . .

We haven't talked for a while, so --- we do some quick catching up . . .

Then Mark tells me that his boy Alex is back in school + working at a car wash --- + tells me a story

One day, this Guy comes in to the car wash --- older, fit, German . . . with a Bentley

So Alex sees the Guy's high-end car + chats him up, friendly . . .

Turns out the Guy used to be a Racer . . .

    . . . for Porsche

    So --- Alex mentions his Dad . . .

    . . . + mentions Mr Siffert's car

    Guy's floored

    '. . . we were close friends . . .'

Now --- this all happened 2 weeks ago. And Alex never got a name

    Henderson, NC

    . . .

    And/also . . .

    . . . 'you ever own a Bentley?'

Meanwhile --- I'm sending Mr Ahrens' picture to Mark Allbaugh

I think we have the stories mixed as well.Mr Lorz must of had the 68 car and sold it. As 119300950 was first registered to Ahrens.
Easy to get confused as he had two silver S cars within two years
    Cheers

Sportomatic was a silver 68 which got Ahrens from Lorz, as seen on above pictures, VIN unknown.

69 is the one with above Kardex written "Versuch Ahrens" , verkauft an (sold) in May 1970 to Ahrens. VIN 0950.

He probably sold the 68 Sporto bought earlier from Lorz in 1970 because in May 1970, he bought the 69 VIN0950. And this car he also sold quickly again in 1970, to have a side income.

(Vin and story are mixed. Story from silver68 and VIN from silver69)
Perfect, now we are clear. Thanks for the information.

Here's a shot of the pedal box area, one thing I noticed when I pulled the carpets up, which wasn't an easy task. The carpets had moulded to the floor. Separating itself, anyways once I peeled it back here's the floor. No sound deadening or is this standard??
