1969 911S Versuch/Experimental found. Kardex Porsche factory driver Kurt Ahrens jr.

    Hi

I thought I would share with you an interesting find. I can't take credit as DaveP pointed out the information on
    the Kardex.

119300950 was recently found in the prairies of Canada, how an ex Porsche factory car ended up in a farm storage shed ,
is still a mystery. The Kardex lists Kurt Ahrens jr as the initial owner/driver whats more interesting is what the kardex lacks.
No list of options and no service history. Only color , engine number and trans number.

Importer is listed as "WE" which is used for factory owned cars. Only options listed 6851 for Silver Metallic paint, cloth seats and Michelin tires.
Another interesting point is the VERSUCH / Ahrens line which means Experimental for Ahrens. This could mean a couple things
from a prototype/test car used by Ahrens, which would lend to the lack of options listed. Another option would be a test car given to it's factory
Porsche team drivers which was customary at the time aka the Jo Siffert car.

As the car stands now it is in need of repair, the matching engine is long gone but the gear box is still intact ,typical floor rust, front pan etc. I have it at
my restoration ready for disassembly and a chem bath. I'm not sure if I'm ready for the leap into a full restoration but I will research a little more. I tend to enjoy
    this part of the equation.

Some interesting points on the car, Scheel fixed back race seats 101 or 100 series, All German warnings and script. No sunroof or basic creature comforts. It does
have a rear wiper but on a back dated rear wing. Like I said the car has been man handled over the last couple decades. The bones are still decent and I will post pictures
of the process if I go that route.

Hi, where you got the Versuch Info from? Dont see it on Kardex.

WE is for Dealer, not Importer. Dealer number is 100.

I've never seen a 69 Kardex with entries typed in that font. Usually all upper case too.
Edit: Looked further in my research and there are a few out there from time to time.

It looks like your Kardex is referencing something in May 1970 above Kurt's name, perhaps the handing over to him of the car.

That's a good point on the date, I never thought of that. Wonder what the back story is.

Interesting, so "sold" in 1970 . My guess is sold is another term for given to Ahrens. I wonder what the car was doing in 1969??

Another question didn't Ahrens retire from racing some time in 1970? I wonder if there's any correlation?

Yes its verk > abreviation of verkauft > sold at (May 11 1970)
But I see now typewritten Versuch / Ahrens, sorry.

As with Sifferts car, It seems owned/ordered/built at factory for Versuch/Ahrens (typewritten), later sold to Ahrens jr, added by handwritten infos.
