Thank you for all detailed comments above and which are interesting, i always learn too. Especially on the RS.

I just got the confirmation that the Swiss market/DOT (called Astra) had no objections to the 2.7RS. They were delivered and road restricted as the factory intended, with Ducktail and whatever a client wanted.
Reason why the Swiss pricelist I posted above (post #24) does especially also list the rear spoiler within the package.

Here is an interesting article (January 73) on the 1973 US market line up and how they explained the RS can be had street-legal in Europe only. Interesting also they state the 901 series might be soon (!) come to an end, making the RS one of the last 911 model ever built.

Aftermarket "Carrera Kit" offered for sale in summer of 73. Parts sold individually, interestingly the front looks more like how a Carrera RS would have come equipped in France where the limited edition model specific spoiler was not approved. Also the "transfers" do not look like the final design.

Goodness knows how msny sold but dare bet msny more than original RS spoilers going AWOL. Buyer beware RS genuine original orphan spoilers ( and many other similar things) found in the wild or in improbable places. Unless there is irrefutable provenance and chain directly backing such claim then as we say over here when hearing guff... "genuine original my aRSe". Robust colloquialism used to express disbelief even referenced in Cambridge dictionary but word might get struck out by mods:

    Very Interesting.

But if its summer of 73, it means it was not available for 1973 models when they came out in late 1972.
They used 1973 models in their aftermarket advertisements as of course no 1974 was yet on the market.
However, once the aftermarket item was available, the new MY 1974 Porsche were out too.
When people mounted there ducktails on their cars, they were already outdated.

Here is what Porsche did in September 1973 (Frankfurt auto show).

And the 1974 lineup, shown in late August 1973, including ducktail equipped 1974 US street-legal 911 Carrera.

Karim aftermarket spoilers could well have been available earlier than the June publication which is first example advert I found in my literature -- not many folks match your vast impressive collection. I suspect the aftermarket suppliers would have jumped on chance to make copies as soon as they saw the car around the early October 72 launch and were able to copy the very noticeable RS bodywork changes. Factory using glass fibre parts must have made their day! Striking looking ducktail rear spoiler like this -- was it among the first on road legal car --was always going to be in demand.

I've got these 72/3/4 Books on my shelf, nice but author's correctness to detail in some aspects is pretty poor.

Agree. But since the ducktail 1973RS was not available in the US and visible on a few racing RS only, I doubt there was US demand quickly.
The US were leading in aftermarket and no European market could match it.
I think June might be the first issue date. I have a few aftermarket including late 1972 and they were usually printed once a year. My late 72 printed aftermarket does not have it.

Don't know the USA market but suspect the Daytona Win in Feb cased a spike of interest in RS agenda over there. Guess are right it probaly took while to momentum as other track success of 911744 gathered attention and the spoiler was probaly the most obvious external feature.

Although the RS launch was first week of October there were probably roughly around half the first 500 on the road by beginning Feb given delivery lead times etc. For example the 2** vin car I own although built December was coincidentally first road registered in UK that Daytona Win weekend and was among the first dozen or so on the road here in UK at that point.

Yeah, all wrong COA's. People have no clue writing those.

On another issue, i recall years ago seeing a 73.5 Targa blue (metallic) 911S factory equipped with ducktail and wide fenders, dealer (Polak?) car. If my memory was right that was the only exception of the rule.
Cant find the thread/post anymore and not shure if my memory is right. Would love to see this pic again.

This ad is in a UK publication referring to aftermarket Carrera rear spoiler being in the specialists September 1973 stock. The wording mentioning things in pipeline seems to suggest the ducktail accessory is a fairly new addition Name: image.jpg
