Help - What is this Brown/White Wire?

I have most all of my electricals working properly on my '70E project but I am left with this orphaned brown white wire that emerges from the tunnel harness just forward of the shifter hole. Can anyone help me to identify this?

I am thinking it must be the connector for the sporto shifter and it is included in the harness for both sporto and manual cars. My car is a 5 speed but I have seen the sporto shifters with the brown-white wire. Can anyone confirm this for me or is it just too obvious to comment on?
