lol cuda/hemi/corvette... I'd only own one of those three to recreate the quarry scene from ground hog day.

I'll join because I like where you're going with this and hopefully others will join. I owned my first (and only) Porsche 24 hours. lol The story isn't too sad though. Everyone thought it was too far gone and it wasn't worth the $1600 I paid for it and within 24 hours it was gone to the other side of the world for $6500.

The best part of owning that '66 912 for the 24 hours that I did was that I took a road trip with my 85 year old neighbor 3 hours south to Fort Knox Kentucky and got to listen to his stories. I can't tell you how often I wished I found another deal like that just to take another little road trip. Anyways, When he saw the rust bucket he asked if I really wanted to buy this thing and I smiled and said "yeah" with a big grin on my face. We got back and I gave him $200 dollars for his time (for someone with undervalued employment and two kids that's a lot) and he tried to refuse it. The next day when I had it sold he just shook his head.

While I haven't had any other Porsches, I grew up in a family that opened a foreign auto shop 50+ years ago and it's always been in my blood. I've got Porsche taste on a VW budget. Speaking of VWs I've had my '68 VW for almost 20 years now (I got it when I was 14) and have had about 25 other air-cooled VWs since. I hope to be adding a long term Porsche sooner rather than later but being fiscally responsible in a generation taught to indulge oneself is proving to be more rewarding.

ps JohnJohn where you originally from? No one born and raised in LA could take a heckling like you did and not cry foul.

In 2001: First Car: Ford Capri S 2.0V6

    In 2003: First Porsche: '74 911S with 964 bodykit and 3.2 engine, 4spd 915

When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car.

What's the difference between heroin addiction & P-Car projects? Heroin use has it's limits.

First car: NEW 1965 Mustang 289 coupe, Highland (McQueen) Green.....my uncle was a Ford dealer, invoice was $1200. I had to cough up half, and my dad matched it.

First Porsche: 1968 912, 4sp, Burgundy Red.....the first 914s arrived at the dealers, and I was on the waiting list. We all thought the spy photos were of a diquised car....

They weren't !!! One step into the showroom. Yikes! Ugly frog with all VW bits. I immediately went looking for a clean used 912! Like most of us, wish I still had it.

914 lovers...don't start! They filled a nice gap, and a lot of enthusiasts had fun with them...just not for me.
