First car in 1987: 1960 Chevy Apache with a 400 Buick engine, bad wiring, and plywood to reinforced the rusted out floors. My dad helped me paint it. I wanted black, but we used too much Bondo for that.

First Porsche 2012: '66 912 with a 2.2. Still not crazy about red cars, but they follow me home. This one is growing on me. That's my dad squeezed in to the passenger seat. He's an American hot rod guy (drives a '55 Chevy) but enjoyed the car, although he struggled to get in it.

    "U-Boat Captain"

HA! I was at the then Klinger Porsche/Audi in Highland Park, Illinois (Chicago) the night they filmed the "U-Boat Captain" scene.....I was there to pick up my 928S after work for an oil change as my wife and I were heading out to Monterey in the AM for our 1st ( '82) Historics. It was after the service department had closed, but the place was all lit up, and the guys told me they were filming a movie. Apparently someone from the crew had asked if I would allow my car (Guards Red) to be in the background of some of the shots. I was in a hurry and declined, but did watch them fill the dummy 928 with the fish water while my paper work was being finished. I got on my way anticipating a great road trip in the AM. Several months later "Risky Business" came out. Who knew??!!

First car: 1966 Pontiac LeMans with the new Sprint OHC engine ordered new from Pontiac Village in Boston, $2,600 out the door.

First Porsche: 1967 912, black on black, with A/C. Never ran right and traded it for a new VW after 4 months. Never heard of a PPI in those days.

Paper route and mowing lawns bought me my first car, a 1970 Cougar XR7. At the age of 15 I shelled out $600 for this beauty in 1979.

Ahhhh the sixties... I envision myself one early Saturday morning wearing plaid shorts, black shoes with white socks smoking a cigarette heading to the hardware store to buy a bag of nails.
SWB cars are an acquired taste however once acquired theirs no turning back.

First car 1972 Vega GT shared with my 2 brothers '72 thru '74 then a '75 Mustang Mach1. First Porsche was a 1973 914 2.0 in Signal Orange bought in 1980 right after college. It met its demise in the second winter in Chicago slid on some ice right into the back end bumper of parked Buick 225 not a scratch on the 225 the 914 squashed like an accordion.
