    horn primer

    sorting through boxes of parts for another project it dawned on me that I *might* have at least one example of the early ('65 - '73) horns.
    I don't have early parts manuals any more & never had much in the way of OEM lit to support when (or not) each type was used.
    so... submitted for your approval (or not). this is strictly meant as a reference that I hope others will contribute to in an attempt to clarify which units were used when.
    I did find an excellent reference post regarding the Sportfanraren... usually referred as "banjo"... here;

    And, the first set came in a pair (even though each had a separate part number) these are the round vibrating plate style as found on the 356:

    Used up to car # 301 224 - Early Summer 1965
    Deep Tone 390 Hz
    Road Tone 520 Hz

    Updated for use on cars 301 225 thru (Model year 1966) 305 100
    Deep Tone 290 Hz
    Road Tone 345 Hz
    These are noted as coming in a pair (even though each has it's own part number)

    From car 305 101 (Model year 1967) the shape changed to the Fan Fare (snail):
    Deep Tone Bosch 400 Hz
    Road Bosch 500 HZ

    And later there was also a single horn in the parts book - reverting back to the round (vibrating plate) Style
    Deep Tone Bosch 335 HZ
