Blasphemy? Heretical? or what..... different finish for early S calipers

Putting together a 914-6 conversion R Gruppe style car over on 914 World.
Found a nice set of early S calipers I wanted to use, but wanted a different look.
    Rebel, maverick, whatever it's called.

The guys over at PMB Performance put their magic on these calipers and this is the end result.
I think it's quite nice as again I'm not looking for a factory finish.

And to those who think I've "ruined" a perfectly good pair of S calipers, don't despair.
They can easily be put back to a factory finish if that is ever their fate down the road.

    Enjoy or despair....your call.
I like to think of these as my mini 930 calipers.
    Ha
Combined with the 914-6 GT caliper reproductions I have for the rear, this car should really stop now.

They look great. I just hope they stop your car as well as they look. Probably not, though.

The same as they used on the original 914/6 GT's and the early 911 Turbo (930).
Bytzek used them on his GT very successfully, although he also used a larger master to counter the effects of rotor wobble pushing the pads back; thus no need to push the pedal twice.

They put those calipers on their cars 'cause they didn't know any better.

    Ciao

So Jim, what caliper would you fit to a '69S if it was your car. Looking for something that wouldn't cost an arm and a leg.

I'll just chime in here quickly about how well S calipers can stop a car.
I campaigned a 73 RS replica in club racing for a number of years.
The car weighed about 2100 lbs (w/o me) and had stock S calipers up front with the factory M's in the rear.
I ducted cooling air to the front rotors and used good brake fluid.
That said....I never, I mean never had an issue with slowing down for the turns in all those years of racing.
They were lightweight, so were great with the unsprung weight issue and performed perfectly for me.
That car could brake really hard...period.

I have them on four of my cars and don't have an issue, changed out one set for boxter brakes frt/rear on the hot rod with bias valve for bit extra stopping power on track.

I agree with Jim that the S calipers are a little flexy. You can get technically better calipers, but they aren't as cool as the S IMHO.
That said, your black finish is super stealthy.... they look like cast iron

A pair of cast iron A calipers from a 911sc. Ugly, not cool at all, but damn, do they stop better than S calipers!

Have to agree with you Jim.
These at least look like SC calipers now.
No offense intended to the OP. It’s certainly more creative than what I’ve got.
