Which color thread best to follow?

I have made a excel spreadsheet with the different parts and different colors.
But it is not complete and still need some work.

I have seen different color threads about the interior and exterior.
But want to be sure I am on the correct path.
Can someone advice a particularly thread?

This about items like (stone guard or not / which kind of grey for a MY66 BY65 car which had a stone guard darker gray fuel tank / ...)

    Thanks!

Michael- Great idea but I haven't seen such a listing. Typically color inquiries are per the part or area of the car, such as a fuel tank.<script type="text/javascript" src="safari-extension://com.ebay.safari.myebaymanager-QYHMMGCMJR/d7206efa/background/helpers/prefilterHelper.js"></script><script type="text/javascript" src="safari-extension://com.ebay.safari.myebaymanager-QYHMMGCMJR/d7206efa/background/helpers/prefilterHelper.js"></script>

Since that would be an extensive list to quantify every part on the car it might generate more discussion if you would present your spread sheet, then there can be the usual discussion involving fifty ways to do a task.

    Hi,

The list that I have made is not only with colors but also with different details.
It is only for the cars with VIN around 3033xx - 304xxx.

But about the colors what I have in the list:

    - Bodycolor under engine grill = satin black
    - Mesh wire under the engine grill = satin black
    - Hinges Front hood panel = satin black with bolts touched up satin black
    - Hinges Rear lid (engine) = satin black with bolts touched up satin black
    - Inside front hood panel = flat surface (centre panel) textured undercoat with body color
    - Inside engine lid panel = body color
    - Inside engine compartment = satin black textured undercoat
    - Inside luggage compartment = satin black textured undercoat
    - ventilation grill under front window = satin black
    - body behind horn grills = satin black
    - square clips with bolts where the front panels are attached to body = body color or satin black?
    - fuel tank = textured midgrey paint
    - wheel arches = satin black textured undercoat?
    - interior = ?

Was the car first painted in the body color to overspray it afterwards with the black (textured) color?
    Or how was it done?

What is the correct color code to use for the satin black parts?
Is there some kind of code to use for the textured (stone guard) parts?
Does somebody has a correct color code for 6601 slate grey. I suppose there was no varnish applied on that color?

    Thanks in advance,

My only comment would be that the inside trunk area was painted after the fender install, so the bolts and rectangular washers would be black.

    Edmayo,

    Thanks for your reply!
I will list it up in my list.

Do you know a member (who knows a lot about colors) that could help me with my color questions?
Because until now there are not really replies that are helping with my questions.

    Thanks,

Yes, the whole body was subjected to the color paint coat, nothing was masked against over spray, realize on a production line you don't have time for masking, then black was applied later where needed, usually with a brush, such as around the interior door edges , and fresh air vent. I have no idea of their paint code for satin black. The undercoat was the same asphaltic, brittle undercoat used on 356's, with a very grainy texture. It may not even be made anymore, it wasn't very good, always flaked off.

    Edmayo,

    Thanks for your info.
There are still some doubts and choses to be made for my 303381:

    - The mesh wire under the engine grill: was it satin black or aluminium silver? I read a lot and saw both.
    - The body under the engine grill: was it satin black or body color? I have read and see both. Personally I think it should be satin black, but I am not sure.
    - The ventilation grill under the front window: I suppose it should be black but also read some uses brushed aluminium.
    - Fuel tank: It should be textured midgrey. But I have been looking on the early 911 forum, I see a lot of pictures but not the correct coating/color for it.
    - Did they use some kind of varnish on the slate grey cars? I suppose not...

    - I read a lot about the Wurtz undercoat vs stone guard. Which one is best to use for the textured parts?

    Thanks a lot.
