    Wink 1968 911 L Coupe on BAT

I querried a Seller of subject coupe as to why his 911 had Reflectors on Rear Bumpers as per 1969 and 70's vehicles ???

His Answerback was that it was a European model 911L. Any comments to verify this would be Appreciated.

    Thanks

As far as I know, this is impossible. The 1968 911L is unique to the U.S., making a European 911L 'rather difficult to find'.

    Marvel,

The 911L was sold in the US, Europe and elsewhere. The US L version had a some of the 911S trim, including bumper and door decos. Neither version came with the rear bumper reflectors. I suspect that these were just added to the short wheel base bumpers on the car being sold on BAT.

The L was not exclusive to North America...

What was unique, were the side reflectors on the US 68L correct?

    Scott,

The US 911L differed from the rest of the world 911L in a few areas. The US 911L had:

    1) reflectors on the front and rear sides and rubber covers on the switches and vent window latches.

    2) wider side and bumper decos along with rubber covers on the bumper guards as used on the ROW 911S. The ROW 911L had the narrow front and side decos and chrome bumper guards standard as shown in the pictures that Thomas provided above.

    3) engines with smog equipment (engine serial numbers 328XXXX and 338XXXX for US manual and sporto engines versus 308XXXX and 318XXXX for ROW).

    4) different body serial numbers (11805XXX and 11855XXX versus 1181XXXX and 1186XXXX for coupe and targa)

    5) 911S Oil Level combination gage and tank as standard, while this was an option for the ROW 911L.

Sorry if that is more than you were asking.

Except for the 911L sportomatic Euro model came with full 911S gauges and 911S ventilated brakes. I know because I have a 911L Euro sporto. chris

The US 911L also came with the standard 128 lights, leather steering wheel and the chrome interior trim just like the 68S.

The swedish SWB cars had additional reflectors, due to swedish regulations. They were mounted by the importer on the same place as later on LWB cars. You can see them on the thread old rallye photos from Thomas Lundeval. So on the cars from Waldegaard, Ake Anderson and other swedish cars.
