    Lightbulb

I just got this from the Fabulous Fifties Association:

We were informed that our dear friend, Dan Gurney, passed away on January 14 from complications of pneumonia. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations be sent to Hoag Hospital Foundation, 3300 Placentia Ave. #100, Newport Beach, California 92663. For those who wish to express sentiments to Evi and the family, please send to eagleracingcarsusa@aarinc.com.
Following Dan's wishes, services will be private.

This is another sad, sad day for all of us.

    Sincerely,

    John & Ginny Dixon
    for Fabulous Fifties

Dan was a true pioneer and so proud of his All American Racers race team. He will be missed. Link to more thoughts on Dan's passing at the 356 Registry. http://forum.porsche356registry.org/...=45350#p303045

A few years ago, I met the Gurneys at the tail end of a book signing in Monterey, and I had just purchased Jesse Alexanders Porsche Moments. It remains a great memory watching them recall the faces and names of the Porsche mechanics pictured inside the cover, noting them as they could. I honestly think they were enjoying it more than me. "Oh look, there's Rolf!" Dan signed it to my son Liam, and Evi signed it as well.

Sorry to see him pass, godspeed Dan.

A great driver, a great engineer and a very fine gentleman, always very accessible to anyone who wanted to talk racing.
