An email I received today from Stoddard advertises the new Porsche coolers at $2,530.57 a pop.

It's that last 57 cents that gives me pause.

    Little late to this . . .

I have no problem with non-original/replacement parts per se. For me -- Our Cars are meant to be driven/used FIRST . . . so, anything that furthers that end? --- works for me. Not that I don't have a TON of respect for the people who dedicate themselves to 'correctness' and 'authenticity,' buuuuut . . .

    . . . I don't do 'car wash contests'

On the other hand --- if it's within my power AND available? . . .

. . . I will make absolutely every effort to get that goof-ball/stupidly-priced/what-was-I-thinking/OG bit for the car --- and NOT because of what any Judge or Fellow Enthusiast or Future Investor/Owner/Idiot may think/want/expect

I do it ----------------------------------------------- For me

I want the car pure --- or . . . at least as pure as I can manage

    Judges/schmudges

Ok-ok --- so some of the Asking Numbers are more than a little bit of a shock, I'll admit --- I mean, I just dropped $five-and-a-quarter for an NOS coil (gulp!). . . but, when it comes to considering a purchase? --- I always ask myself . . .

    . . . amortized over the years + miles that I'll own the Nasty Car . . .

    . . . what does that really work out to, anyway? . . . /mile, /year

    And --- always/inevitably? . . .

    . . . when will I see another?

    Hi all,
maybe of interest for some of you in regard of the newly released oil coolers.

During a recent Porsche Classic event I had a chance to discuss with a Porsche Classic representative. He told me that the new oil coolers are being produced by a rather small automotive cooler supplier who also supplies water coolers for newer generations.
In the development phase, the available aftermarket replica oil cooler where taken to Weissach and produced unsatisfying numbers in terms of cooling performance. The new oil coolers are hence optimized performance-wise in their internal comb design.
Lastly, coolers are 'made in Germany'.
