Am I reading this wrong...I did not know 6405 Champagne Yellow was considered a special order color in late '64 and early '65.

Yes, Champagne yellow was special color and Bali Blue standard.
Christophorus in Sept announced it and 9/64 color chart confirms.

And yes, we over the years all read the wrong infos in any book published, except Johnson.
It got unnoticed because part of a thread discussion few followed, Haul made it more public.

Thanks Dave, this is great to have! Mine is 1744, and interesting to note 1731-1749 were all painted Bali Blue in succession. That's 19 in a row

Probably around the same day(s). As said, I recall in one Christophorus issue this schedule was mentioned.

Dave, that's great info. Are the cars you list all Bali Blues made by the factory or just the ones that exist today on your database?

The reason I ask is that there is a long- (long as in initial production of a new model back in 1965!) run from VIN 301731 to 301749 i.e 15 consecutive cars in Bali Blue. Do you have a feel for how many cars the factory would typically hold back to paint in a 'batch'?
