    COA Shows 110l Tank - 1970 911E

    Hi all,

I’m in the research phase of bringing a long dormant, fiberglass turbo-flared, modernized long hood back to the road and noticed that the COA lists a 110l tank as an option. I’ve searched and seen these plastic 110l tanks on RSRs but haven’t seen any mention of these appearing in normal/ non-S models. I’ve also seen 1971 as the stamp on these plastic tanks which wouldn’t make sense with a 1970 model. Wondering if this might be an error in the COA or if this sounds like it might be correct.

    Thanks

I would not assume it was a plastic tank (unless that is what is fitted now) There were steel "big tanks" going back to the 60's
Here is an extract from 1969 Homologation paper (3005 dated December 1969) for the 1970 S for Group 4 cars with the 110 litre tank - part number 911 201 903 00. there is an identical mention in Homologation document 3025

the "big" tanks on the earlier cars all appear to have been 100Litres - the first reference to a 110L one in the quick search of my documents was for the 1970 MY cars

    Edited:
    in 1969, it says;

    Option 9131
    100litre tank, optional for 912, 911T, 911E, 911S
    270.- Deutschmark
Option 9131 not possible to order in combination with 9147 (US equipment)

Thanks for the info, guys. Unfortunately there is a small tank in the car now but I do remember seeing some leather belts/straps as tire hold downs in there. I was thinking those may have remained from the original larger tank.

It’s sounds like it is more likely that the COA should read 100l tank even though there was a 110l tank that appeared in 1970 models since it would not have been available to order on an “E”

I think that you should work on the fact that "everything is available" to the right person who asks, at least back then. Anything is possible with these cars back then especially with some of the more competition oriented parts
therefore it would be worth asking the people you got the COA from what the option number was for that tank - to see if it is a typo, a mistake or it is the real deal even if the brochure suggests it could not happen

Rob, I’d order a copy of your Kardex from dpateman here on the board. He may chime in.

I don't believe a Kardex is available for the 1970 model year. I have been told that 1969 is the last year.

That is correct. Very few Kardex for 1970 exist. I think the best option is to get the actual codes from PCNA, and then WE can translate the options.

OOPS, Sorry, I had your user name wrong, but meant YOU Dave! Wasn't aware of the fact that '69 was the last year. Thanks for edumacating me (again!). Good luck RobL.

Different names on some of the other forums. I am working on making a comprehensive list of options year by year, but it will need some time yet. Good thing I retire at the end of this month.
