Seems that the Martini livery RSR Turbo failed to sale?
Wonder what happened? Too expensive or issues with the car’s pedigree?
Just saw that it made the cover of Octane magazine, and could not find it in the sale’s results.

I was there and it bid to $5,400,000.00 USD, and yes, a 'no sale'. I believe the pre-auction estimate range was $6-8M
Thanks mac73s,
The article in Octane showed what looked like a superb and rare RSR (except for photos of blinker stalks (?)on the steering column that seemed more recent?).
If the car is what it seems to be, it's a shame the vendor pushed the estimate to the point of discouraging potential bidders. It's a very important racing car and deserved to do better that return to its owner.....
Wonder why this car hasn't been discussed here....
I was there at Gooding sale. IIRC there were several phone bidders and 5-6 in the room at various points in time. No sale in the room as others noted, but given it was within ~10% of the lower estimate range I'd be willing to bet there's been a lot of effort post sale to arrange a deal.
I am not an expert in these RSRs and didn't inspect the car closely, but to layman like me seemed like the real deal. Here are some of the pics I took during the preview. I liked how the car appeared to be largely in "as raced" condition rather than heavily restored.

Rumour is that it has sold post auction.

This car is more than the "real deal."
It's the car that began the turbo era for Porsche.
Not too many more important cars than this in Porsche's history.

Thanks guys, that’s what I thought, the real deal. Always preferred the earlier race Porsches, but this is an important car for the brand’s history and seems to have maintained its soul.
How refreshing to see a race car in race condition For sale, rather than some overrestored concours example, perfect.
